Australia’s Wallabies rugby team will host the reigning world champions, South Africa, in Perth, Australia, on September 27. The Australians head into the match on an unbeaten run of five Tests: four wins and one draw.
Match against the world champions
As ABC News Australia reports, the South African team arrived in Perth after winning the series against New Zealand 3–1. The Springboks last played in Perth in 2024, when they defeated Australia 30–12.
Under new head coach Les Kiss, the Wallabies have won three Tests and drawn one. Including the 57–10 victory over Italy in Perth in July, which was Joe Schmidt’s final match as coach, the team has gone five matches without defeat.

Team squads
Australia’s 34-player squad includes Western Force representative Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, who has not yet made his national team debut. Jordan Petaia has also returned to the team for the first time since the 2023 World Cup. In 2024, he left the Queensland Reds to try his hand in the NFL.
South Africa arrived in Perth without Pieter-Steph du Toit and Damian de Allende: the experienced players were released from the squad so they could spend more time with their families. Wallabies flanker Carlo Tizzano, who was born in Perth, hopes that the festive atmosphere in the city ahead of the Australian Football League final involving the Fremantle Dockers will provide additional motivation for the rugby team.
