Performance against Bangladesh
Starc moved into first place after Australia's winning second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay. The match ended in two days, with the left-arm bowler taking 10 wickets and helping the Australian team thrash its opponent.
In the second Test, the 36-year-old Starc recorded figures of 6–12 and 4–39. He was named player of both the match and the series. Bumrah had held the top spot in the Test bowling rankings for two months.

445 Test wickets
After the matches in Mackay, Starc took his total number of wickets in Test cricket to 445. This allowed him to overtake South Africa's Dale Steyn, who has 439 wickets, and move into tenth place on the list of the most successful bowlers in Test history.
Before the series against Bangladesh, Starc said that his current form was linked to clearer thinking and the ability not to dwell on unsuccessful episodes. Australia's next Test match will be played during its tour of South Africa, which begins in October.
