In Labadi, Ghana, the Emmanuel City football team won the inaugural Global Game Scouting tournament, defeating Teshie Football Academy in the final. Regulation time in the decisive match at the McDan Astro-turf ended 2-2, and Emmanuel City won 3-1 in the penalty shootout.
Road to the final
Emmanuel City advanced through the playoff stage and defeated Arimark FC in a penalty shootout in the semifinal. Teshie Football Academy also reached the final after a successful tournament campaign.
A platform for young players
As MyJoyOnline reports, the tournament was organized by Global Game Scouting Agency together with the British football agency ExcelsiorPro. The competition was intended to give young footballers an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to scouts, clubs and football agencies from Ghana, Europe and Africa.

Participants were assessed on their technical and tactical qualities, physical characteristics, attitude toward the game and overall potential. The most notable players could receive recommendations for trials and further opportunities in football.

The organizers see the competition as part of efforts to create a broader pathway for young Ghanaian and African footballers to professional opportunities abroad.
