ESPN to launch RedZone streaming format at the US Open
U.S. television network ESPN will launch the RedZone streaming format at the U.S. Open during the US Open tennis championship in New York. According to Channel NewsAsia, the broadcast will run from the start of the main draw of the men's and women's singles tournaments on August 30 through September 4. The format will make it possible to follow events on 16 courts at the Flushing Meadows complex.
Switching between matches
A separate broadcast team will choose which matches and moments to show at any given time. It will follow both well-known tennis players and less recognizable players on New York's outer courts.
ESPN Senior Director of Programming and Rights Acquisition John Suchenski said editors will have access to all 16 courts and will independently decide which matches to switch between. According to him, the broadcast will focus on the most important moments of ongoing matches. Therefore, the broadcast may show a match involving lesser-known tennis players if an important moment is taking place in it.

A format inspired by the NFL
The concept is inspired by NFL RedZone, a multi-hour broadcast for American football fans that switches between games and shows key episodes and drives near the end zone. Suchenski noted that the US Open version will have its own specifics and that advertising is planned during the broadcast.
ESPN acquired rights to the RedZone brand from the National Football League a year earlier as part of an agreement concerning the league's media assets. In 2024, the network also signed an agreement with the United States Tennis Association to broadcast the US Open through 2037. In 2025, the tournament was expanded by one additional day after several years of growing attendance.
