Golfer Im Sung-jae misses PGA Tour playoff final for first time
South Korean golfer Im Sung-jae failed to qualify for the final FedEx Cup playoff event, the Tour Championship in Atlanta. At the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, he tied for 10th place, completing four rounds at eight under par — 272.
A top-30 spot proved out of reach
As The Korea Herald reports, this was Im's second consecutive top-10 finish, but it was not enough for the athlete to enter the top 30 in the overall FedEx Cup standings. Before the BMW Championship, Im was ranked 40th and needed to at least tie for sixth place to move into the qualifying zone. After the tournament, he was ranked 37th.
After rounds of 67 and 64, Im shared fourth place. However, he posted rounds of 70 and 71 over the weekend. In the final round, the golfer made a birdie and an eagle, but also recorded four bogeys.

A streak of appearances comes to an end
Im had played in the Tour Championship in each of the previous seven seasons, starting with his debut season in 2018–19. This season, the 28-year-old athlete missed the first two months while recovering from a wrist injury. He finished in the top 15 in four consecutive tournaments at the end of the season, but that was not enough to qualify for the final.
Instead, two other South Korean representatives will play in the Tour Championship, which begins on Thursday at East Lake Golf Club. Kim Si-woo tied for 33rd at the BMW Championship at two under par — 278 — and dropped from fourth to fifth in the FedEx Cup. Tom Kim tied for 28th at three under par — 277 — and qualified for the final from 29th in the standings. It will be the first Tour Championship for both since 2023.
