Ivan Tikhomirov, a defender for the Isloch football club and the Belarusian national team, was unexpectedly drafted into the army right in the middle of the season.

This was reported by his teammate Vladimir Khvashchinsky.

According to him, the team did not expect such a turn of events and believed that the player would merely make a formal visit to the military registration office and then return.

“Everyone was shocked. It seemed that such issues could be resolved, especially since we’re talking about a national team player. But they simply took him away, and now he’s already at the military unit,” Khvashchynsky said.

He expressed hope that the situation could be resolved, as Tykhomirov has only just begun to realize his potential and could be valuable to the national team.
