Infantino Avoided a No-Confidence Vote by UEFA — BBC

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has decided not to initiate a vote of no confidence against Gianni Infantino, president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). At the same time, UEFA plans to select a single candidate to represent European soccer in the upcoming FIFA presidential election.

According to a source, a decision on a vote of no confidence would require the consent of 159 FIFA member associations, which is considered unrealistic.

UEFA intends to find a single candidate to participate in the upcoming FIFA presidential election and is confident it can accomplish this task. The deadline for submitting candidacy applications is November 18. The election will take place in March 2027 in Morocco.

Infantino was elected FIFA president at an extraordinary congress in February 2016. The next FIFA presidential election will take place in March 2027.

This was reported by the BBC.

Associations from the Northern Hemisphere have stated that they have lost confidence in Infantino.

Infantino ignored requests not to attend a youth tournament in the Caribbean.

Shefer, head of European Leagues, called for a change in the FIFA presidency.
