LIV Golf has canceled its tournament in Michigan and will end the season early

The LIV Golf Series has canceled the team tournament scheduled for August 27–30 in Michigan and will end the 2026 season early. The organization stated that it wants to focus its resources on preparing for the next phase of work with new investors, according to the Korea Herald.

The team championship was originally supposed to be held as a separate event in Michigan. Now, the team champion will be determined this week at The Club at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis, where the individual season champion will also be crowned. Ticket holders for the canceled event in Michigan have been promised refunds.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neill stated that concluding the season now will allow the organization to focus all its resources on the next phase and maintain operational discipline during this transition period. According to the publication, this is the second LIV Golf tournament to be canceled following the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund’s April announcement that further investment in the series no longer aligns with its strategy.

Less than two weeks after that announcement, LIV Golf postponed its June tournament in Louisiana and was considering holding it in the fall. However, the season will now conclude on Sunday. Legion XIII captain John Rahm has already clinched his third consecutive individual season title ahead of schedule. Bryson DeChambeau, Joakim Neumann, Lucas Herbert, and Tyrrell Hatton are vying for the other two spots on the podium.

In the team standings, the results of all four players from each team will be counted daily, and the 2026 champion will be determined among the 13 teams. LIV Golf also announced that it has found a new lead investor. According to the series, the deal is expected to bolster its funding ahead of the Saudi fund’s withdrawal of support at the end of the 2026 season.
