Louis Vuitton unveils trophy trunk for the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix — Channel NewsAsia
French brand Louis Vuitton has unveiled in Singapore a specially created trunk for the trophy of the 2026 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. It was shown to the public for the first time at the brand’s Island Maison at the Marina Bay Sands complex ahead of the night race, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Design for the Singapore race
The trunk was handmade at Louis Vuitton’s historic workshop in Asnières-sur-Seine, France. The brand’s signature monogram canvas features a large letter V, standing for Vuitton and Victory. Its outlines were made in Singapore’s national colours — red and white. The design also uses the black-and-white Damier pattern, referencing the chequered flag at the finish of the race’s 62 laps.
A new element of the trunk is the Victory patch, inspired by traditional travel labels. It is intended to feature the initials of the future trophy holder.

History of sports trophies
At the workshop in Asnières-sur-Seine, Georges Vuitton, the son of the brand’s founder, developed the first automobile trunks in 1897. To ensure luggage could withstand the difficult conditions of travel, he created the durable Vuittonite material as an alternative to leather. This material later evolved into the recognisable Louis Vuitton canvas.
Louis Vuitton has also created trophy trunks for the America’s Cup, the FIFA World Cup, Roland Garros, the NBA, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The trunk for the Singapore Grand Prix will be displayed at the Island Maison in Marina Bay Sands until 29 September 2026.
