Latvia national team to play Cyprus in Nations League — LSM English
Latvia’s national football team will play a UEFA Nations League match against Cyprus in Riga on Monday. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 Riga time. The Latvians approach the home fixture after a 0-2 away defeat to Armenia in the opening match of the tournament’s new season.
Opponents after defeats
According to LSM English, Latvia are ranked 137th in the world, while Cyprus are 124th. The Cypriot team arrived in Riga after a 1-2 defeat in an away match against Montenegro.
For the Latvian national team, this is an opportunity to secure their first victory since March, when they narrowly defeated Gibraltar. Before that, the team beat Andorra in March 2025, also by a one-goal margin.

Possible changes to the lineup
Team captain Antonijs Černomordijs said rotation is needed, as the team will have to play four matches in 11 days. After the match against Cyprus, Latvia will host Montenegro at Skonto Stadium on October 2 and will play away against the Cypriots on October 5.
Fans may also see the debut of 24-year-old Deniss Čirkins for Latvia’s national team. The Queens Park Rangers player was born in Ireland to a family originating from Daugavpils and represented England’s youth national teams.
