Malders shared what kind of performance he wants to see from the Ukrainian national team
Ukraine national team head coach Andrea Maldera has officially outlined his strategic vision for the development of the national team under his leadership.
The Italian coach stated that from now on, exceptional courage must be the top priority for the “blue-and-yellows.”
The coach plans to strictly demand that his players act decisively on the field, as this is the least the athletes can do during such a difficult time for the country.
The new head coach of the Ukrainian team has clearly set priorities between the visual appeal of the game and its underlying meaning.
He is convinced that the national team’s football must inspire millions of people both at home and on the front lines. The military context places a special responsibility on the players toward society.
“If you ask me what kind of national team I’d like to see, I wouldn’t want it to just play beautiful soccer or be aesthetically pleasing like Barcelona. I’d want this team to have courage, because for many viewers watching on TV, their national team can serve as an example,” said Maldera.
The coach of the “blue-and-yellows” added that this important mental quality can be demonstrated in completely different ways on the soccer field, depending on the situation and the opponent.
However, the players’ main task will be to clearly demonstrate to the fans that the team is giving 100% for the result.
