German national team forward Deniz Undav spoke about his dangerous allergy
Deniz Undav, a forward for Stuttgart and the German national team, admitted that he has a severe food allergy to seafood and has twice experienced a reaction that could have been fatal.
The soccer player spoke about his health issue when asked about his opinion on sushi.
“Yes, but only with salmon or vegetarian options. Because I can’t eat shrimp. I’ve had an allergic reaction twice, and both times I nearly died. My whole body swells up, and I can’t breathe,” Undav said.
According to the forward, his allergy extends not only to shrimp but also to other seafood, including lobster and mussels.
Despite his health issues, Undav had a productive season with Stuttgart.
In the 2025–26 season, the forward played 46 matches, scoring 25 goals and recording 14 assists.
