An athlete from the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia won a silver medal at the Russian Wrestling Championship
Wrestler Azamat Khadzharagov, who formally represents the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, won the silver medal at the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship. The participation of athletes from Ukraine’s occupied territories in such competitions may violate the rules of the international federation United World Wrestling.
In the final of the 92-kg weight class, Khadzharagov lost to Amanul Gadzhimagomedov of Dagestan.
Khadzharagov is an Ossetian wrestler who, following Russia’s occupation of part of Zaporizhzhia, began formally representing Melitopol in All-Russian tournaments.
It is worth noting that the participation of wrestlers who formally represent the occupied regions of Ukraine in the Russian championship constitutes a violation of the rules of United World Wrestling (the International Wrestling Federation). However, the pro-Russian leadership of this federation turns a blind eye to such cases.
Earlier, a Russian gymnast who had her meniscus mistakenly removed will not return to the sport.
As a reminder, Russian gymnast Lala Kramarenko, who previously participated in propaganda events in support of Putin, announced her intention to obtain neutral status to compete in international competitions.
