Australian fast bowler Mitchell Stark took five wickets in the first four overs of the second Test match against Bangladesh. The match is being played in Mackay, Queensland, at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, which has become the 12th venue in Australia to host Test matches.

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided that his team would field first. Stark took the first wicket with his very first ball: Shadman Islam sent a thick-edged ball straight to Cameron Green in the gully.

In the next over, Tanzid Hasan, after a mis-hit, sent the ball straight to B’ju Webster in the slips. With the very next ball, Stark dismissed Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto on a leg before wicket decision. At that point, Bangladesh had nine runs for three wickets.

Going into the second Test, Bangladesh led the series 1–0 after a nine-wicket victory in the first match in Darwin. Bangladesh replaced Ebadot Hossain with left-handed fast bowler Shoriful Islam, who has recovered from a hamstring injury.
