Svitolina defeated Noskova and advanced to the semifinals in Stuttgart
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina secured a victory in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, Germany, defeating Czech player Linda Nosková in two sets.
The first set lasted 46 minutes and ended in a tiebreak in favor of the Ukrainian. In the second set, Svitolina took a 4-1 lead, but her opponent managed to even the score. With the score at 6-5, the Ukrainian made the decisive break and closed out the match.
The match lasted 1 hour and 42 minutes.
This is Svitolina’s first victory over Noskova—the Ukrainian had previously lost to the Czech twice.
For Svitolina, this is already her fifth semifinal of the season and the 52nd of her career at the WTA level. In the next round, she will face the winner of the match between Karolina Muchova and Coco Gauff.
