David Owor, captain of the Villa soccer club, was killed in Kampala
On August 4, David Owor, captain of the “Villa” soccer club, was killed near his home in Kampala. According to local media reports, the athlete was the victim of an attack by unknown assailants; law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances of the murder.
The 27-year-old soccer player was attacked on Tuesday, August 4, near his home. Oworie sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he died the following morning.
In 2024, Oworie helped “Willie” win the Ugandan championship for the first time in 20 years. In May 2026, he was named the best defender in the Uganda Cup.
Owori also played for the Spanish club “Vélez” and the Swedish club “Utsikten.”
Owori’s murder shocked the entire Ugandan soccer community. The Uganda Football Association called Owori “a true leader on and off the field.”
On Wednesday, August 5, the Ugandan Parliament honored Owor’s memory with a moment of silence and called for a swift investigation into his murder.
