In South Africa, players from two teams could not shower after the match due to lack of water

In Polokwane, South Africa, players of Polokwane City and Kaizer Chiefs, as well as match officials, left the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium without showering due to water supply disruptions. The Betway Premiership match ended in a 1-1 draw.

There was no water before the match began

The absence of running water at the stadium was discovered before the opening whistle, and the disruptions continued throughout the match. According to TimesLIVE, temperatures in the capital of Limpopo province approached 30 degrees Celsius that day.

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa said the club tried to find out the reason for the lack of water before the match. According to him, team representatives were informed about the disruptions and promised that the water supply would be restored soon.

Maphosa noted that due to the lack of water in the changing room, the team felt discomfort and its preparation for the match was incomplete. During halftime, containers of water were delivered to the changing room. The club also raised concerns about hygiene at the venue, as fans approached team representatives asking them to respond to the situation.

PSL will conduct an inspection

PSL chief operating officer Ronnie Schloss said he had heard about the lack of water at Old Peter Mokaba for the first time and promised to conduct an inspection. He added that during the assessment of the venue's readiness to host matches, all conditions met the requirements.

Polokwane municipality sports manager Mantlako Sebaka said that the necessary services could not be provided by the city's water supply lines, rather than by the stadium's infrastructure. Journalists were unable to find a municipal representative for comment.
