South Korea and Qatar national teams arrived late for match in Nagoya

The men's national football teams of South Korea and Qatar arrived late at the stadium in Nagoya, Japan, ahead of their Asian Games Group D match. According to The Korea Herald, both teams' buses reached the venue about 30 minutes later than scheduled because the drivers got lost on the way.

The buses went to the wrong stadium

The match was due to start at 19:30 at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Rugby Field, with the warm-up scheduled for 50 minutes before kick-off. However, the teams arrived at the venue at around 18:20, leaving almost no time to prepare for the warm-up.

According to a representative of the South Korean national team, the drivers of both team buses went to a nearby baseball stadium instead of the football stadium. The football stadium is part of Mizuho Sports Park, which also includes a baseball stadium and an athletics stadium.

Warm-up in a downpour

A representative of the South Korean team said he did not expect the match to be postponed, although the delay forced the players of both teams to hurriedly prepare for the game in rainy weather. The players took to the field for their warm-up at around 18:45 under heavy rain.

According to the representative of the Korean team, such a situation should not have occurred at an international competition. He also said that the Korea Football Association had not yet filed an official complaint at that time.

This is not the first transport problem for the South Korean team at the tournament. On Monday, head coach Lee Min-sung was several minutes late for the pre-tournament press conference because the organizing committee did not send the assigned car to the team hotel. The coach was advised to take a taxi, but he and a staff member found another official vehicle that took them to the stadium.
