Shohei Ohtani to resume batting practice in the US
In the United States, Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will resume batting practice on Tuesday. Team manager Dave Roberts announced this on Monday. The Japanese baseball player is recovering from inflammation in his right biceps.
Recovery from injury
Before the Dodgers’ road game against Cincinnati, Roberts said that Ohtani had not picked up a bat since being placed on the 15-day injured list. During this period, his activity was limited to strength training, light exercise and treatment.
As Korea Herald reports, pain in his left knee had prevented Ohtani from taking the field as a pitcher since the beginning of July. During attempts to return to pitching, he also experienced pain in his right biceps and neck.

Focus on batting
Earlier this month, Ohtani said he would focus on batting for the rest of the season. Before being placed on the injured list, he had also struggled offensively, not starting in six of the Dodgers’ previous seven games.
This season, Ohtani has a batting average of .277, 30 home runs and 80 RBIs.
