Video: Mike Tyson Wears a Vyshyvanka at the Boxing Legends Parade in New York
Legendary American boxer Mike Tyson appeared in a vyshyvanka at a parade of world boxing stars held in New York (U.S.).
The event was organized in honor of 29-year-old American boxer Bruce Carrington. Among the guests of honor were well-known figures in the world of boxing, including Zab Judah, Shannon Briggs, and Mike Tyson.
The 60-year-old Tyson attracted particular attention, having chosen a Ukrainian vyshyvanka for the event.
Tyson’s connection to Ukraine stems from his childhood. The future champion was raised by Camilla Ewald, a Ukrainian woman born in the Ternopil region.
Ewald was the common-law wife and partner of legendary trainer Cus D’Amato, who became one of the most important people in Tyson’s athletic career.
In 1981, D’Amato and Ewald officially adopted Mike Tyson when his biological mother was no longer able to properly care for her son.
It was under the guidance of Cus D’Amato and Camilla Ewald that Tyson began his journey into professional boxing and toward his future championship titles.
Mike Tyson is a former undisputed world heavyweight champion and the youngest boxer in history to win the WBC, WBA, and IBF championship titles.
Tyson became the first heavyweight to simultaneously hold the WBC, WBA, and IBF belts. He won the WBC title at the age of 20 years and 144 days by knocking out Trevor Berbick in the second round.
In total, the legendary American defeated 11 opponents in world heavyweight title fights.

Mike Tyson’s appearance in a vyshyvanka at a parade in New York drew particular attention, given his close connection to a Ukrainian woman who played an important role in raising the future champion.
As a reminder, former WBO lightweight world champion Denys Berinchyk continues to train for his next fight. The 38-year-old Ukrainian boxer posted photos from his training camp in Bukovel on social media.
As a reminder, former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk is no longer working with the promotional company Zuffa Boxing. The company invoked a clause in the contract that allowed it to terminate the agreement in the event of the athlete’s defeat.
