Virat Kohli to end India career after 2027 World Cup — Al Jazeera

India cricketer Virat Kohli has said that the 2027 Cricket World Cup in the one-day format will be his final tournament with the national team. Al Jazeera English reports.

The 37-year-old Kohli said he is ready to give everything to help India win the trophy. According to him, the intensity of a one-day World Cup is particularly high, as the team has to play about 10 matches with a workload comparable to Twenty20.

The 2027 tournament will take place in October and November in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. It will be Kohli's fifth ODI World Cup.

Kohli has already retired from international Twenty20 cricket and Test matches. He currently represents India only in the one-day format.

Kohli holds the record for the most centuries in ODIs, with 54. He has scored 14,941 runs in this format and ranks second in this category behind Sachin Tendulkar, who has 18,426 runs.

In 2011, Kohli won the World Cup on home soil. In the final of the 2023 tournament, India lost to Australia.

Kohli and former national team captain Rohit Sharma were included in India's squad for a three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The first match will take place in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
