The Spanish national team has extended its contract with Luis de la Fuente
Luis de la Fuente, head coach of the Spanish national team, has extended his contract with the Royal Spanish Football Federation. He has been at the helm of "La Furia Roja" for four years now.
The new contract for the “Furia Roja” head coach runs through the summer of 2030. The contract extension was confirmed by the federation’s president, Rafael Lusán. De la Fuente’s previous contract was set to expire in mid-2028.
The Spanish coach took the helm of the Spanish national team in the summer of 2022. Since then, “La Roja” has triumphed in the 2022–23 Nations League, won the 2024 European Championship, and secured victory at the 2026 World Cup. In late September, the Spanish national team will kick off the new Nations League season.
Before taking over the national team, de la Fuente spent many years working within the national team system. He coached Spain’s U-18, U-19, U-21, and Olympic teams. The coach won European championships with Spain’s U-19 and U-21 teams and also claimed a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics.
