Employees reported the layoffs
Four of the six people listed on Android Central's team page publicly wrote that they had been laid off. They include Shruti Shekar, Derrek Lee, Harish Jonnalagadda, and Nicholas Sutrich. Former senior editor Namera Saud Fatmi also updated her LinkedIn profile, noting that her work at the publication had ended.
Managing editor Derrek Lee and Nicholas Sutrich confirmed that all employees who remained on staff at the time had been laid off. According to The Verge, former employees were not told whether Android Central would cease operations.

The site continues operating
Following the layoffs, new articles written by freelance contributors rather than former staff employees appeared on the site. Future said it would continue publishing Android Central and would provide more information about the publication's future later.
Another Android-focused outlet, Android Police, also recently laid off at least two employees. The site lists an editorial team of four people. Valnet, the company that owns Android Police, did not immediately respond to The Verge's request for comment.
