Apple is preparing a major update to Siri with multitasking support — Bloomberg

Apple is conducting internal testing of a revolutionary feature for its voice assistant, Siri, that will allow it to process multiple commands within a single request.

Bloomberg reports on this.

The new feature is being developed for the upcoming iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 operating systems, which are scheduled for release this fall.

Currently, Siri lags significantly behind its competitors, as it can only perform one task at a time.

The introduction of multitasking is expected to bring Apple’s assistant closer to the capabilities of advanced AI-based systems, such as ChatGPT or Gemini.

According to confidential sources, the updated Siri will be able to simultaneously check the weather forecast, create a calendar event, and send a text message.

This will allow users to save significant time when interacting with the device and make the assistant more context-aware.

The official presentation of the updated Siri and the Apple Intelligence ecosystem is expected at the WWDC developer conference on June 8.

Although these features were announced back in 2024, technical difficulties forced the company to postpone the release several times.

The update will transform Siri into a full-fledged tool, similar to a chatbot, with a separate app and deeper integration into the operating system.

The assistant will learn not only to perform actions but also to effectively summarize information directly from the internet.

A key new feature will be Siri Extensions, which will provide access to third-party apps via the App Store.

This will allow the assistant to interact with apps from independent developers, going beyond standard integration with services like ChatGPT.

During internal testing, some new features are labeled as "Preview," hinting at their gradual rollout.

Apple may present some features as unfinished to gather user feedback and refine them before the final release.

As a reminder, Apple removed apps for tracking ICE agents under pressure from Trump.

Apple may unveil a new affordable MacBook model next week. Insiders report eight technical limitations of the model and predict its likely price for Ukrainian buyers.
