Helix hackers claimed to have stolen Uber Freight data
The Helix hacker group claimed responsibility for the cyberattack and data breach at Uber Freight, Uber’s logistics division. A spokesperson for Uber Freight told Reuters that the incident did not affect the company’s operations and that its systems are functioning as usual. The company did not immediately respond to a request from TechCrunch.
On its leak site, Helix claimed to have obtained email accounts, data from cloud storage, files related to outstanding invoices, and dispatch documents from Uber Freight. The group is using this website to post the stolen files and is threatening to release the data if the affected companies do not pay the ransom.

TechCrunch reviewed some of the files, which likely contain correspondence between Uber Freight and several of its clients. However, the editorial team was unable to immediately verify the authenticity of these materials. The documents appear to be dated mid-June.
Uber Freight has not disclosed whether it received any demands from the hackers or paid a ransom. According to Google, Helix is part of a broader hacking group that the company tracks under the name UNC6671. The group uses social engineering, specifically voice phishing: the attackers call IT departments and ask for employees’ passwords. Google also reported that an analysis of Bitcoin wallets linked to the group revealed at least $10.6 million in ransom payments between January and May of this year.
