Tesla has not clarified its vision of abundance a year after Musk’s plan — TechCrunch

More than a year after the presentation of Tesla’s fourth master plan, the company and its CEO Elon Musk have not provided specific explanations of the concept of “amazing abundance,” which is linked to robotaxis, robots and artificial intelligence. TechCrunch reports.

Musk unveiled Master Plan Part IV on September 1, 2025. At the time, the document was criticized for being too general even by some Tesla supporters, and Musk himself promised to add more details. According to the publication, no such clarifications subsequently appeared.

Promises without a practical plan

The plan initially used the phrase “sustainable abundance,” linked to Tesla’s former mission. It was later changed to “amazing abundance”: Musk explained the choice of the new wording by saying that it was more joyful.

Musk spoke about a future in which robots and artificial intelligence would perform operations and expand access to medical care. He also said that the development of these technologies would allow everyone to have a penthouse if they wished. In July, Musk told The Economist editor-in-chief Zanny Minton Beddoes that “amazing abundance” means the possibility for anyone to have everything they can imagine.

Targets for Musk’s compensation

Tesla linked this concept to Musk’s $1 trillion compensation package, which shareholders approved in November 2025. In regulatory filings, the company stated that targets for delivering 20 million vehicles, 10 million active Full Self-Driving subscriptions, and deploying 1 million robotaxis and 1 million robots each should play a key role in supporting the vision of abundance.

Tesla Chair Robyn Denholm said in a letter to shareholders that this goal is not merely a slogan, but an aspiration to create the best future imaginable. At the same time, in August Tesla filed an application to register the amazing abundance trademark for various goods, ranging from cars and robots to bags, cups and bottle openers.

At a conference in November 2025, Musk said Tesla robots would be able to build a person a house or a castle, but added one condition: not to insist on a specific location.
