The United Kingdom has fined an Apple subsidiary for violating sanctions against Russia
The United Kingdom has officially imposed a fine on the Irish subsidiary of tech giant Apple for financial transactions with a sanctioned individual.
The fine for violating restrictions imposed in response to the aggression against Ukraine exceeded $500,000.
The British government announced the imposition of financial sanctions against Apple Distribution International Limited (ADI) on Monday, March 30.
The company was ordered to pay 390,000 pounds sterling, which amounts to approximately $516,000 at the current exchange rate.
The investigation found that a division of the American corporation transferred funds to an individual subject to restrictive measures.
According to an official government statement, “ADI provided funds to a sanctioned individual without the appropriate license in connection with two payments made in 2022.”
Such actions constitute a direct violation of current legislation governing economic interaction with sanctioned entities.
As a reminder, the U.S. has lifted sanctions against several Russian companies and businessmen.
Ukraine has also imposed new sanctions against Russia, with a list of individuals and legal entities included.
