69% of Ukrainians support an open competition for the position of Prosecutor General
69% of Ukrainians support holding an independent competition involving foreign experts when appointing the prosecutor general. 25% oppose this idea, while another 6% are undecided.
These are the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from September 12 to 21, 2026. The survey included 1,002 adult respondents from territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.
According to the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), 56% of those surveyed believe that holding such a competition would increase their trust in the Prosecutor General, and 53% believe it would increase their trust in the Prosecutor General’s Office as a whole. A decline in trust is expected by 4% and 6% of respondents, respectively.
Even among Ukrainians who fully trust Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 58% support holding a competition with the participation of foreign experts.

Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko registered his primary residence in Vienna after leaving Ukraine. However, as “Ukrainska Pravda” discovered, the Austrian registry lists the address of the company’s office rather than a residential address. Journalists speculate that this may have been done to conceal his actual place of residence in Austria.
Journalists from “Schemes” reported that they found information in the Dubai registry regarding an investment by Alina Shkrobanez, the former mother-in-law of ex-Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, in a townhouse valued at approximately $670,000. The property, with an area of over 143 square meters, was purchased in July 2023, when Kravchenko headed the Kyiv Regional State Administration. Shkrobanez herself denies having purchased the property and suggests that her personal information may have been used without her knowledge.
