The unemployed son-in-law of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Traffic Safety Center in Obukhiv escaped punishment for a car accident, according to social media
Leonid Khomenko, a member of the Hirsk Village Council who is married to the daughter of an official linked to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Traffic Safety Center in Obukhiv, was involved in a traffic accident in Kyiv but ultimately avoided administrative liability.
The accident occurred on September 26, 2025, in Kyiv.
It involved a Toyota Camry driven by Leonid Khomenko and a Hyundai driven by Mykhailo Gontey. As a result of the collision, both vehicles sustained mechanical damage.
According to the case file, Mykhailo Gontey, while turning left, failed to ensure the safety of the maneuver and collided with Khomenko’s Toyota Camry.
At the same time, the patrol police issued citations to both drivers under Article 124 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for liability for traffic violations resulting in damage to vehicles.
Leonid Khomenko was charged with violating traffic rules while reversing and with failing to exercise due care.
The case was heard by the Podil District Court of Kyiv. On November 14, Judge Lyudmyla Kazmyrenko issued a ruling.
As a result, the court found only Mykhailo Gontey guilty. He pleaded guilty and was fined 850 hryvnias.
Regarding Leonid Khomenko, the court ruled to dismiss the case due to the absence of an administrative offense in his actions.
Khomenko himself did not admit guilt. He explained that he was pulling out of the parking lot after first making sure there were no other cars around, at which point a Hyundai suddenly crashed into his car.
Thus, Leonid Khomenko was not held administratively liable for this traffic accident.
This incident is also noteworthy in the context of Leonid Khomenko’s 2025 financial disclosure statement.
The Toyota Camry in which the deputy was involved in the accident is one of two vehicles listed in his declaration. Its value is estimated at approximately 500,000 hryvnias.
The second car is a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450d worth 4 million hryvnias, registered in the name of the deputy’s wife, Angelina Khomenko (née Chyzh).
It is noted that in 2025, the family actively sold their old cars and purchased new ones. In total, the family received over 5 million hryvnias from the sale of movable property.
Angelina Chyzh married Leonid Khomenko in September 2023.
According to the data provided, the wedding was celebrated at the five-star InterContinental Hotel, where singer Kola performed. After the celebration, the newlyweds went on vacation to the Maldives.
At the same time, judging by the 2025 financial disclosure statement, the family’s official regular income appeared relatively modest. The lawmaker himself did not report any salary for this period, and the main source of income was proceeds from the sale of cars.
