Boris Tarasyuk Will Return His Polish Order Due to Navrotsky's Policies

On June 20, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk announced his decision to return the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. According to him, the reason for this move was the stance of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, which he called “anti-Ukrainian hysteria” amid recent political disputes.

Tarasyuk, a Ukrainian diplomat and longtime member of parliament, noted that he decided to do so “as a sign of protest against the anti-Ukrainian hysteria” of Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

“This step is consistent with my earlier protest regarding the decision of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to unjustly accuse Ukraine of ‘genocide’ against Poles. As a sign of protest, I resigned as chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Group on Interparliamentary Relations with the Republic of Poland on July 22, 2016,” Tarasyuk recalled.

He expressed regret over the escalating crisis in relations between Ukraine and Poland.

“As someone who has been involved in restoring Ukraine’s relations with the Republic of Poland since 1990, I believe that the current president of the Republic of Poland is destroying the strategic partnership that has been built over the past 35 years. Of course, the Kremlin is pleased with such actions,” Tarasyuk wrote.

Earlier, Zelenskyy sent Navrotsky the Order of the White Eagle via Nova Poshta.

Following this, Leonid Kuchma declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.

Ukraine’s third president, Viktor Yushchenko, also declined the Polish Order of the White Eagle.
