A former police officer from Kupiansk worked for the occupiers: the case has been referred to court
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment with the court against a former law enforcement officer from Kupiansk who is accused of collaborating with the Russian occupation administration.
According to the investigation, in the summer of 2022, after Russian troops seized the Kupiansk district, the woman agreed to work for the occupiers. She had previously served as a senior investigator at the local police department, and during the occupation, she became the “acting investigator” of the illegal “Department of Internal Affairs of the Kharkiv Regional Military-Civil Administration.”
In this role, she conducted on-site investigations, drafted official decisions, and took statements from local residents in accordance with Russian law. She received approximately 30,000 rubles per month for her work.
She was later appointed “senior investigator” of the occupation police department in Kupiansk. After Ukrainian forces liberated the city, she fled to Russia and was placed on the wanted list.
She is charged with collaboration. The case will be heard in absentia by the Osnovyanskyi District Court of Kharkiv. The woman faces up to 15 years in prison.
