In Vinnytsia, a cat had gold fangs implanted at a cost of 45,000 hryvnias
In Vinnytsia, a three-year-old cat had metal crowns placed on its fangs. The procedure cost 45,000 hryvnias, but veterinarians explain that the “gold teeth” were not installed for cosmetic reasons, but to preserve the animal’s natural teeth following an injury.
In Vinnytsia, veterinarians helped a three-year-old cat preserve its damaged canines. To do this, they fitted the animal with special metal crowns that resemble “gold teeth” in appearance. The L’vet Veterinary Center described this unusual procedure. They emphasized that the crowns were not intended for cosmetic purposes. They were fitted following an injury to preserve as much of the cat’s natural teeth as possible.
The treatment took more than one day. First, the veterinarians performed endodontic treatment on the cat—that is, they worked on the inner parts of the damaged teeth. Afterward, the specialists did not rush to place the crowns. Six months later, the cat underwent follow-up X-rays to check the condition of its teeth and ensure that the treatment had produced the desired results.
The next step was to prepare the canines for crown placement. The veterinarians prepared the teeth, took impressions of them, and sent them to a dental technician. Custom metal crowns were fabricated based on these impressions. The final stage was carried out at the veterinary center. First, the crowns were tried on, and then they were secured onto the cat’s teeth. “First, we performed root canal treatment; six months later, we took follow-up X-rays; we prepared the teeth for the upcoming crowns; took impressions; and sent them to the dental technician. And today is the final stage: fitting and securing the metal crowns,” the veterinary center explained.
Thus, the cat’s unusual-looking teeth have a perfectly practical reason. Metal crowns help protect damaged teeth and allow them to remain functional. In total, the procedure cost 45,000 hryvnias. The veterinary center did not specify whether this figure represents the total cost of the entire treatment or just the cost of fitting the crowns.
Incidentally, Ukrainian military personnel recently helped animals that were in danger due to the war. The soldiers evacuated six cats from the occupied town of Oleshky. To do this, they used a drone to transport the animals across the Dnipro River. Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, described this unique operation, code-named “Tigers.” This was reported by the L’vet veterinary center.
