Ukraine Ranked Third in the World in Terms of the Number of Cyberattacks – Microsoft
In the first half of 2026, Ukraine ranked third in the world and first in Europe among countries whose organizations and users were most frequently targeted by cyberattacks. Ukraine accounted for 4.8% of the total number of victims worldwide, with higher figures recorded only in the United States and Israel.
Compared to last year, the country rose in the global ranking from fifth place. It remains one of the key targets for Russian state-sponsored actors, accounting for 14% of their attacks. Globally, the share of cyberattacks on the public sector rose to 27%, while the share of phishing attacks reached 23%. Experts also note that the use of artificial intelligence has reduced response times and accelerated the actions of attackers.

This is evidenced by data from the Microsoft Digital Defense Report 2026.
In Ukraine, more than 100 compromised websites have been identified where Windows users are shown a fake “I’m not a robot” verification. Afterward, users are instructed to run a specific command via Win+R, CMD, or PowerShell, which installs malware on their devices.
The hackers are demanding a $400,000 ransom for the allegedly stolen ATB customer data.
