A key figure in the high-profile "Mindich tapes" case visited the National Bank of Ukraine in 2024
The National Bank of Ukraine has confirmed that Vasyl Veselyi, who is named in the so-called “Mindich tapes,” visited the institution.
In 2024, he met twice with employees of the NBU’s supervisory unit. The regulator clarified that these were working contacts within the scope of the relevant departments’ authority.
This was reported byZN.UA.
The National Bank of Ukraine has responded to the "Mindich tapes" scandal: inspections at "Sens Bank" are ongoing.
At the same time, it emerged that Vasyl Veselyi, a figure in the recordings, had visited the National Bank on multiple occasions.
When asked how the NBU could limit Veselyi’s influence on “Sens Bank,” NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyy replied that he knew nothing “about any influence by Vasyl Veselyi.”
"This issue was discussed at a meeting of the temporary investigative commission. The NBU Board and I have taken note of all the responses—both from the Chairman of the Board and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. If such facts are known and documented, they must be investigated. At present, the National Bank has no information regarding such influence," he said.
When asked how often Vesely had visited the National Bank since October 2022, Pyshnyy replied that Vesely does not visit there.
"There have been no visits to me. Regarding clarification of information about his possible visits to the NBU—we will provide a response based on the results of the investigation," Pyshnyy said in an interview.
Subsequently, the NBU informed ZN.UA that Vesely had made two visits to the National Bank in 2024 to meet with employees of the supervisory unit.
“Midas”: The recordings mention Yermak’s possible influence on frozen assets and banks.
UP’s new disclosure could significantly expand the circle of suspects and the embezzlement schemes linked to them. In particular, the former head of the Ministry of Defense and current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, may appear in the recorded conversations.
Timur Mindich remains abroad, while his wife Kateryna Verber—founder of Kameron, a company operating offline and online stores that are official distributors of the Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, and Balmain brands—continues to run her business in Kyiv. There is also a Russian connection here: Kateryna Verber is the daughter of the recently deceased fashion director of Moscow’s TsUM, Alla Verber.
