Together with other women, she accompanied Jesus, supported Him and His disciples, and helped them.
When most of the disciples fled after the Savior’s arrest, Mary Magdalene remained at the Cross. She was present at Christ’s burial, and on the third day she came to the tomb to anoint His body with perfume. It was then that the risen Jesus appeared to her first.

According to church tradition, she later set out to preach the Christian faith. A well-known story tells of her encounter with the Roman Emperor Tiberius. According to the legend, Mary presented him with a red egg, saying, “Christ is risen!” It is this episode that is associated with the origin of the tradition of giving Easter eggs.

In the folk calendar, this day was called Mary’s Day or Berry Day. It was during this time that people actively gathered wild berries, made jam, dried the harvest, and stocked up for the winter. It was also considered a good tradition to help loved ones, pray for the health of family members, and spend the day without quarrels or hard feelings.
