The commanders of the Navy and the Airborne Forces publicly expressed their support for Syrsky
The commanders of the Ukrainian Navy and the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have spoken out in support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, amid a wave of protests and criticism.
Navy Commander Oleksiy Neizhpap stated that only the President of Ukraine, as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, has the authority to evaluate the Commander-in-Chief’s performance. He also emphasized that during wartime, attempts to divide society and cast doubt on the army play into Russia’s hands.
Commander of the Airborne Assault Forces Oleg Apostol, for his part, emphasized that military leadership is based on discipline, the principle of a single chain of command, and the personal responsibility of commanders.
According to him, substantive criticism is acceptable, but baseless accusations and public insults undermine trust in the Armed Forces. Apostol also urged military personnel not to get involved in political disputes, stressing that the army must remain outside of politics.

So far, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Office of the President, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not publicly commented on this parliamentary initiative. It is also unclear whether the necessary number of votes will be gathered for the motion to become an official appeal from the Verkhovna Rada to the head of state. This was reported by Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is reportedly considering replacing the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing a senior official in the Office of the President whose name has not been disclosed.
