Latvia will accept another 200 Ukrainian soldiers for rehabilitation
Latvia is ready to accept another 200 Ukrainian soldiers for rehabilitation who were wounded while defending Ukraine. Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs made this statement, emphasizing that his country wants to continue supporting Ukrainian defenders.
The prime minister noted that Latvia has supported Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to him, this assistance extends not only to military equipment but also to supporting Ukrainian defenders after they are wounded. “We are helping in every way we can. Thousands of your wounded soldiers are undergoing rehabilitation in Latvia. We want to do more, and we are now exploring additional opportunities to accept another 200 soldiers,” Kulbergs said.
He did not specify exactly when the new group of Ukrainian soldiers would depart for rehabilitation or at which medical facilities they would undergo recovery.
Latvia Has Been Helping Ukraine Since the First Days of the Invasion
Kulbergs recalled that Latvia has supported Ukraine since the very beginning of the full-scale war. According to him, the country helped Ukrainians defend Hostomel by providing the first symbolic Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, Latvia delivered approximately 4,000 vehicles directly to the front lines for the Ukrainian military.
“We are helping in every way we can,” the Latvian prime minister emphasized. He also noted that through their struggle, Ukrainians have proven that Ukraine is part of Europe.

Kulbergs stressed that Latvia will continue to stand with Ukraine. According to him, Ukrainians have paid a very high price for their right to defend their own country and their European future. “Ukrainians have proven with their blood and sweat that Ukraine is part of Europe,” he said.
The Latvian Prime Minister also expressed confidence that Ukraine will be able to achieve peace. “Together, we will achieve peace in Ukraine. The people of Latvia stand with you. Today, I convey greetings to you from each and every one of them,” Kulbergs emphasized.
Thus, Latvia is not only continuing its military support for Ukraine but also expanding its assistance to wounded defenders who require long-term rehabilitation following combat injuries. Kulbergs made this statement during a ceremony to raise the Ukrainian national flag.
Denmark has no intention of reducing its military support for Ukraine. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that the country will continue to supply weapons, assist with air defense, and support the Ukrainian defense industry for as long as necessary to defend against Russia.
On August 23, the Ukrainian national flag was raised in a ceremonial raising in Kyiv. The ceremony was attended by Ukrainian government officials and leaders from six European countries who had arrived in the capital on the eve of Independence Day.
