Metropolitan Epifaniy extended Easter greetings to Ukrainians
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy, addressed the faithful with his traditional Easter message on the day of Christ’s Resurrection.
This year’s message, delivered against the backdrop of Kyiv’s millennia-old holy sites, was imbued with an unshakable faith in the triumph of truth and deep respect for the defenders of Ukraine.
The Metropolitan began his address by mentioning the capital’s main spiritual centers—St. Sophia Cathedral, St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral, St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral, and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
He emphasized that the Resurrection is not merely a historical legend, but an established truth that has radically changed human history.
“Christ’s Resurrection is not a symbol or a legend, but a truth and a reality that entered human history and changed it forever. The light of Christ, the light of life, did not merely shine once upon a time through the Savior’s Resurrection. Through our faith in the Risen Christ, it continues to be our weapon in the struggle against the darkness of this age,” emphasized the Primate of the OCU.
In his message, Epiphanius drew attention to the severe trials the Ukrainian people are currently enduring due to the full-scale war.
He noted that it is precisely under such circumstances that faith, hope, and love become the reliable foundation that helps overcome the most difficult moments in life.
The profound meaning of Easter, according to the Metropolitan, lies in the testimony of the possibility of rebirth even after the most severe upheavals.
Love in the human heart can become a place for the growth of a renewed life that cannot be destroyed or forgotten.
His Beatitude paid special attention to the soldiers defending the country’s independence on the front lines.
His words of support and hope for the victory of light and truth were addressed to all Ukrainians, regardless of their current location, but first and foremost to the heroes—the defenders.
Concluding his address, Metropolitan Epifaniy wished everyone spiritual enrichment and God’s wisdom to multiply good deeds.
He expressed his conviction that the evil seeking to shroud the world in darkness will inevitably be defeated by the power of the Risen Christ.
