In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a former district prosecutor was taken into custody in connection with a bribery case
On May 19, 2026, an investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the position of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and imposed a preventive measure on the former prosecutor of the Slobozhanskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The court ruled to keep the suspect in custody with the option of posting bail in the amount of 1,664,000 UAH.
If bail is posted, the suspect will be subject to procedural obligations determined by the court.
The former prosecutor was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.
On May 13, 2026, the suspect was notified of charges under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—receipt of unlawful benefits by a public official. The prosecution insists on the validity of the charges, but only a court can make a final decision regarding the person’s guilt.
In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and by a court conviction.
Previously, the former head of a structural unit of the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine was found guilty of extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit on a large scale.
The High Council of Justice has temporarily suspended Oleksandr Pelykh, a judge of the Starobilsk District Court in Luhansk Oblast, who is suspected of accepting a bribe.
