Authorities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast are investigating reports of possible dogfighting

The Kryvyi Rih Police have launched an investigation into reports of suspected dogfighting in the village of Ternivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The information about the possible illegal activity was made public by animal welfare volunteers. Law enforcement officials are currently working to establish all the facts and identify individuals who may be involved in the incident.

Law enforcement officials reported this on April 26.

Animal rights activist Tetyana, who witnessed the cruel treatment of animals, reported on April 25 that dogfighting was taking place in the Kryvyi Rih district. She also published a series of videos showing the dogs fighting. In the background, it can be heard that, despite the animals’ injuries, people around them continue to incite them with phrases like “good boy” and “come on, my good boy.”

The organization UAnimals also responded to the incident, calling on the police to investigate the situation.

“UAnimals lawyers filed a report with the police regarding animal cruelty, which includes setting dogs against each other. We demand legal punishment for the organizers of the fights. There can and must be no justification for such cruelty, the animal rights activists emphasized.

The following day, the Kryvyi Rih police reported that they had opened a criminal investigation into the animal cruelty. Law enforcement officers interviewed potential witnesses. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Researchers from the American company Colossal Sciences plan to revive the woolly mammoth species, which went extinct about 4,000 years ago. The first mammoth could be born in 2028 after a 22-month gestation period.

Since the extinction of mammoths, their ecological niche in nature has remained unfilled, causing the permafrost to thaw and greenhouse gases to be released.
