A court found a foreman at the Teofipol Town Council’s municipal enterprise guilty of attempting to illegally appropriate oak timber worth nearly 400,000 hryvnias.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Prosecutors proved that in March 2024, the official, who also served as a forester, attempted to embezzle 30 logs of unaccounted-for oak.

To conceal the scheme, he entered false information into the consignment note, creating the appearance of legal timber transportation. He later presented this document to law enforcement officers during an inspection.

The court found him guilty of attempted embezzlement of property through abuse of official position on a large scale under martial law, as well as official forgery.

He was sentenced to four years in prison and barred from holding positions involving organizational, managerial, administrative, or economic functions for three years.
