The number of people affected by an outbreak of an intestinal infection has risen in the Lviv region

In the Lviv region, the number of people who fell ill after spending time on the shore of Lake Zadorozhne in the Stryi district has risen to 51. Among those affected are 46 children, most of whom have been hospitalized at medical facilities in the region.

According to the Lviv Regional State Administration’s Department of Civil Protection, as of the evening of July 7, 51 people had sought medical attention, of whom 49 were hospitalized, including 44 children. Two more children are receiving outpatient treatment.

The patients were admitted to several medical facilities in the region. Specifically:

  • two patients, including one child, were admitted to the infectious diseases ward of the “SMOL” Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise in the Stryi District;
  • 35 people, including 32 children, were admitted to the Lviv Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital;
  • two people, including one child, were admitted to the Novorozdil City Hospital.

The outbreak of acute intestinal infection is linked to recreational activities in the coastal area of Lake Zadorozhne. The epicenter of the outbreak has been identified in the Mykolaiv and Trostyanets communities near the villages of Drohovyzh and Verbizh in the Stryi District.

Currently, the situation is under the control of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, which is taking the necessary measures to determine the causes of the outbreak and prevent the further spread of the infection.

This was reported on Facebook by the Civil Protection Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

In the Lviv region, 43 people were hospitalized after contracting an acute intestinal infection following a vacation at Lake Zadorozhne. Among those affected are 38 children.

Doctors saved a 28-year-old mother after she suffered from severe pneumonia.

In Ukraine, 115,000 citizens have already undergone free health screenings as part of a state program designed to identify risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other health issues in their early stages. The government emphasizes that the program serves as a preventive measure and enables people to take care of their health in a timely manner.
