In the Mykolaiv region, border guards, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police, uncovered a network for illegally smuggling conscripts into Romania outside of official border crossings. The organizer charged his “clients” €10,000 each and hid the men in a specially equipped compartment under the roof of a minibus.
According to border guards, a 44-year-old resident of Chernivtsi organized the illegal smuggling of men across the border.
He used a minibus for the transport, in which he had installed a special hidden compartment above the seats. According to law enforcement officials, that is where he hid the men subject to military conscription during the trip.
The cost of the illegal smuggling was 10,000 euros per person.
The operation to expose the smuggling ring was carried out by officers of the State Border Guard Service in conjunction with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police.
Law enforcement officials are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the organization of the illegal smuggling operation and identifying the individuals who may be involved in the scheme.

The organizer may face criminal charges for organizing the illegal crossing of the state border.

Earlier, a scheme to illegally smuggle a man across the border with Romania was uncovered in the Vinnytsia region. Two suspects were detained on the Vinnytsia–Khmelnytskyi highway.
Previously, law enforcement officers detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Recruitment Center and Joint Staff on suspicion of receiving illicit benefits totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, the official was caught in the act of receiving $10,000 in exchange for failing to take mobilization measures against three men subject to military service, removing them from the wanted list in the “Oberig” system, and ensuring conditions for their continued employment at their places of work.
