In the Carpathian region, funds intended for infant care were embezzled at a perinatal center
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the illegal misappropriation of public funds at a perinatal center has been uncovered. The facility received over 1.5 million hryvnias from the National Health Service of Ukraine for medical services that were never actually provided.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the facility’s former director (2022–2025) entered false data into the electronic system regarding “severe neonatal cases”—premature births and neonatal pathologies. These services are among the most expensive in the medical guarantees program.
From March 2023 to January 2024, 48 infants were treated “on paper,” although not a single case met the requirements of the medical guarantees. Reports based on the fictitious data were submitted to the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU), which the state paid for.
Prosecutors from the Ivano-Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office notified the former employee of the charges and filed a motion for pretrial detention with the option of posting bail set at 1.5 million hryvnias. The court partially granted the motion, reducing the bail amount to 600,000 hryvnias.

The suspect is currently working at another municipal healthcare facility. She faces up to 6 years in prison.
Earlier, in the Zhytomyr region, police determined that the head of a construction contractor had submitted false information about completed work. This allowed him to illegally embezzle over 9 million hryvnias in budget funds.
