In the Rivne region, four patients received organ transplants from a deceased donor

In the Rivne region, organs from a deceased donor helped save the lives of four patients in need of transplants. Medical professionals retrieved the heart, liver, and two kidneys, which were then transplanted into patients on the waiting list.

“A few days ago, another organ retrieval from a deceased donor took place at the Yuriy Semenyuk Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital. The heart, liver, and two kidneys were given to people who were waiting for transplants. Among them was a child,” Podolin wrote.

According to him, all the transplanted organs are functioning properly.

He expressed special gratitude to the donor’s family, whose decision gave four people a chance to live.

Podolin also thanked the medical staff at the Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital, the transplant coordinators, the anesthesiologists, and the entire team for their professional and coordinated work.

Serhiy Podolin, first deputy head of the Rivne Regional State Administration, reported this on Telegram.

An 8-month-old boy was saved at Okhmatdyt; the donor liver was delivered by air.

Earlier, at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, doctors and staff honored the memory of 13-year-old Ivan, who became a donor after his death and saved the lives of four patients.

Thanks to the Ukrainian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, a genetic match was found for 34-year-old Zinoviy from Kyiv, who had been battling aplastic anemia for a long time. Unfortunately, there were no suitable donors among his relatives. However, the registry identified a 21-year-old man who donated his hematopoietic cells.
