In Transcarpathia, a high school principal created three fictitious employees to secure salaries and payment deferrals

In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme involving the fictitious employment of three men at a lyceum in Velyki Lazy. They received salaries and were able to use this as grounds for deferment from mobilization, even though they never actually showed up for work.

According to the investigation, the 64-year-old high school principal, together with her 44-year-old deputy, entered false information into the time sheets. Over the course of two years, the three “employees” were paid nearly 570,000 hryvnias in salaries and bonuses.

The fictitiously listed men held positions as a social educator, a club leader, and an electrician, but in reality worked in other fields.

Law enforcement officials also determined that the high school principal is a member of the Uzhhorod District Council.

The principal and her deputy have been notified of charges of embezzlement of public funds and official forgery. The three fictitious employees are charged with aiding and abetting embezzlement.

The court set bail for all suspects, but prosecutors are appealing this decision. There was also a request to suspend the principal and her deputy from their positions—so far, the court has granted the motion only with regard to the deputy.
