Frosts are on the way: what to expect from the weather in Ukraine in the coming days
April continues to test Ukrainians’ endurance. Following the severe weather with strong storm winds that swept across most regions over the weekend, a new wave of frost is set to hit the country.
Natalia Ptukha, head of the media relations department at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, spoke about this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
Why Ukraine was hit by bad weather over the
weekend The expert explained that a “weather front from the northwest” had passed through in recent days.
According to her, it was this front that “caused gusts of wind across the entire territory of Ukraine.”
“Wind gusts reached levels ranging from yellow to orange on the danger scale,” Ptukha clarified.
How the weather is changing in Ukraine now
The specialist reported that now (after this atmospheric front) “we are already seeing clearer skies.”
At the same time, she said, this “has opened the way for a cold air mass from the northern latitudes.”
“And, accordingly, we are now expecting frosts again in the coming nights,” the meteorologist explained.
She noted that as early as tonight, “they were present on the ground across virtually the entire territory of Ukraine.”
“And in many regions—western, northern, and partly central and even southern—they were also observed in the air,” added Ptukha.
What to expect from the wind in the coming days
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center representative, the current “airflow pattern remains such that we may still experience strong winds today.”
“But, after all, without such dangerous phenomena. So far—only the first level,” noted Ptukha.
She explained that “yesterday there were both the first and second” danger levels.
“And today, only the first level remains,” the expert reported.
The death toll in Ukraine has risen due to the bad weather.
Earlier, the bad weather left part of the Kyiv region without power.
Cold weather in Ukraine will persist until the end of April.
