The national cashback on books may be increased to 15%

Ukraine plans to increase the “National Cashback” rate for purchases of Ukrainian books to 15%. This decision was discussed during a meeting between representatives of the book industry and the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy.

This was announced by Oleksandra Koval, director of the Ukrainian Book Institute.

According to her, once the changes are implemented, buyers will receive a 15% refund on the cost of the books they purchase. She noted that this will be the highest cashback rate among the programs currently in effect in Ukraine.

Separately, the meeting addressed the losses suffered by the book industry due to Russian aggression. According to estimates by the Ukrainian Book Institute, approximately 10 million copies were destroyed as a result of the war.

Approximately 2–2.5 million of these were textbooks. The industry’s total losses are estimated at approximately 1 billion hryvnias.
