The National Police have uncovered hundreds of cases of draft evasion: over 100 searches have been conducted
As part of Operation "Guardian," the National Police of Ukraine has uncovered nearly 500 criminal schemes involving evasion of military service on the basis of fabricated medical conditions.
This was reported by the National Police press service.
“On April 25, officers from the Department of Strategic Investigations and its regional offices, the Main Investigative Directorate of the National Police, regional and district police departments, the Office of the Prosecutor General, and local prosecutors’ offices, in cooperation with the Internal Security Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, carried out the seventh phase of the large-scale nationwide Operation Guardian. The operations took place in most regions of the country. In total, during this phase alone, 115 searches were conducted at the residences of individuals involved in the schemes, and 87 suspects were identified,” the National Police reported.
Law enforcement officials determined that the main scheme involved submitting forged or false medical documents regarding the health status—of both the draft dodgers themselves and their relatives, who allegedly required constant care—to military units and territorial recruitment centers.
Such actions created formal grounds for obtaining a deferment from conscription or early termination of service during martial law.
During inspections, it was found that the “sick” men or their relatives had not actually visited medical facilities and had not undergone treatment or examinations. In some cases, entirely different people received assistance using the numbers of the specified medical documents.
All identified facts were subject to legal assessment—ranging from draft evasion to desertion, fraud, and document forgery.
Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, dismantled eight new schemes for evading mobilization and detained their organizers in various regions of the country.
Additionally, a court ordered the seizure of over 48 million hryvnias from an official at the Environmental Inspection.
