Germany has revoked the European arrest warrant for Dmytro Karchuk

Now the main goal has been achieved—Dmytro Karchuk is free. The revocation of the arrest warrant means that he no longer faces any obstacles related to this decision that would prevent him from returning to Ukraine.

How Dmytro Ended Up Under Arrest

The story, however, does not end there. Karchuk’s team plans to determine exactly what caused the situation that ultimately led to his detention in Poland. In particular, they need to determine what information about Dmytro was used in Germany, how it fell into the hands of the perpetrators, and what the mechanism of the crime was.

The Ukrainian consulate remained in constant contact

Karchuk’s team also expressed separate gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Consulate in Lublin. According to those who followed the case, the consul remained in contact throughout, personally visited Dmytro, and communicated with the Polish authorities. The diplomat also assisted the team with issues that could be resolved at the consular and diplomatic levels.

This was particularly important to Karchuk’s family and colleagues. They emphasize that the state’s support in this situation went beyond mere formalities. “It was very important for us to know that the state did not leave Dmytro to face this situation alone,” they note. According to them, the consular assistance was consistent and practical, not merely formal.

Dozens of people vouched for Dmytro

An important part of the defense was the support of people who have known Dmytro personally for many years. As part of the work on the case, 55 letters of recommendation were collected from businesspeople, politicians, intellectuals, and opinion leaders. Another 11 people in Poland declared their willingness to personally vouch for Karchuk.

For his team, this was a significant indicator of just how many people were willing to support him with more than just words. “The fact that so many people are willing to stake their own reputations on his name speaks volumes about who Dmytro is to those who know him personally,” his supporters emphasized.

According to those who supported Karchuk, for those who have known him for many years, the charges brought against him seemed from the very beginning to be incompatible with his reputation, professional history, and way of life. That is precisely why people who decided not to stand idly by quickly rallied around the case. Some provided legal assistance, others sought out the necessary contacts, some supplied documents, and still others spoke out publicly about the situation.

Karchuk also received significant support from the Ukrainian media and social media users. According to his team, several hundred posts about this story have appeared in recent weeks. The publicity helped draw attention to the case and show that there is a real person behind the formal European arrest warrant.
